ALC opened its doors in Beirut in 2005 with a simple promise: rigorous teaching, real outcomes, and instructors who care.
How we started
ALC was founded in 2005 by educators who wanted to do language teaching differently — without the rigid lectures and the bottomless drills.
We built our curriculum on the CEFR framework so that every level — from absolute beginner to near-native fluency — has a measurable bar to clear, and so that our certificates mean something outside our walls.
Today we serve over 600 active students, work with 28 corporate partners, and have issued more than 15,000 certificates. The promise is the same as it was in 2005.

What we believe
Three things we won't compromise on.
Outcomes over hours
We measure success by what you can do in the language, not by how many hours you sat through. Every course has explicit can-do statements.
Rigorous, not rigid
CEFR-aligned curriculum and standardised assessments — but always taught by a human, never a script.

2005
ALC opens in downtown Beirut with three classrooms and one mission: serious language education that works.
2012
First corporate partnership signed — Beirut Bank — kicking off our B2B language training program.
2018
We adopt the CEFR framework end-to-end. All courses, levels, and certificates are now standards-aligned.
2022
Hybrid delivery launched — live online cohorts running alongside our in-person classes.
2026
New custom platform replaces our legacy systems — students, instructors and admins all on one stack.
